Iron Running
was a practice in which a player trained their Mining skill by repeatedly mining iron ores.
Although this practice was, for the most part, discontinued (due to the
trade limit), one would give away a significant portion of the ores by
trading to other players, as they were mining for XP. Frequently, the
miner may trade away all 28 ores for nothing simply because it's faster
than clicking drop 28 times; however, some miners would request a number
of noted ores in return for giving 27 unnoted ores and possibly an
amount of coins. Because the profits from serving the miner is quite low compared to Air running
(approximately 1000 coins worth of gain per run), it also requires a
lot more running as popular iron mining sites are far from a bank. This
is an uncommon practice both in free-to-play and members alike.
